Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to use AI Essay Writer?+
Yes — AI Essay Writer calls an AI model, so it needs a free account. Signing up takes a minute, needs no card, and starts you with 200 credits. 14 of Backrow's calculators do run with no account at all; they are listed at backrow.ai/free.
Is AI Essay Writer actually free?+
AI Essay Writer costs 25 credits per use. New accounts start with 200 credits from the welcome gift, so you can use it about 8× before you need a plan.
How is this different from Grammarly?+
Grammarly is a great single-purpose tool. Backrow's AI Essay Writer is one of 120+ tools in a single platform — alongside lecture recording, AI notes, flashcards, quizzes, and study guides. You stop juggling five subscriptions and switching tabs.
Will my professor catch me using this?+
AI Essay Writer is a study aid, not a cheating tool. Use it the same way you'd use a calculator, dictionary, or office hours: to understand the work, not to dodge it. For assignments where AI is explicitly banned, don't use it. For everything else (problem sets, exam prep, learning a topic faster), it's fair game.
Do I need to download anything?+
No. AI Essay Writer runs in your browser. Works on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. There's also a mobile-installable version (PWA) at backrow.ai if you want it on your home screen.

Backrow's Language engine includes everything from problem solvers to essays tools. See the full Language catalog at backrow.ai/free or browse all 120 tools at backrow.ai/free.
Can I use AI Essay Writer on my phone?+
Yes — AI Essay Writer works in any modern mobile browser (Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android). The interface is touch-optimized for small screens.
